For the project "Exploiting Domain Parallelism with Polymorphic
Language Embeddings and Rewritings" (DOPPLER), which is funded by an
Advanced Grant of the European Research Council we are looking for a

   Postdoctoral Researcher

The project explores generative programming in Scala with a focus on
parallelism and high performance. It has been successfully running
since 2011. The prospective researcher will oversee the final two
years of the project, collaborating closely with research groups in
Stanford, Purdue, ETH Zuerich, and others. She or he will also be
involved in the conception and planning of follow-on projects.

Applicants should be fluent in Scala and have a strong background in
several of the following areas:

    - programming language design and implementation,
    - functional programming,
    - type systems,
    - generative programming.

The ideal candidate will have a lively interest in both system
building and theory. She or he will enjoy the opportunity to work
collaboratively with other researchers and PhD students at the
programming methods group at EPFL.

The appointment is initially for one year, with possible renewals
depending on performance and funding (funding is already secured for
the first two years).

The position is open from Summer or Fall 2014. Compensation is competitive
with an annual salary around CHF 75K, depending on age and experience
(1 CHF ~~ 1.12 US$).

For informal inquiries about the position should be addressed to

Formal applications should be sent by e-mail to

  Danielle Chamberlain
  danielle.chamberlain at epfl.ch

To be guaranteed full consideration, applications should be received
by August 5th, 2014. Applications should consist of a curriculum
vitae, a publication list, and the names of three personal references
(two for PhD students). Please ask your references to send their
letters directly danielle.chamberlain at epfl.ch, there is no need for a
request from us.
