advertising a 3 year EPSRC postdoctoral position at the University of
Birmingham with the stated topic of semantics-direct compiler construction. The
project is in collaboration with Graham Hutton at the University of Nottingham.

<p style="margin:0in;font-family:Calibri;font-size:11pt">We are mainly
interested in the semantic aspects of this problem, rather than the engineering
details. In particular I am interested in abstract machines and string
diagrams, used in the tradition of interaction nets. However, a postdoc who is
interested in industrial applications will have the option of an internship at
the Huawei Edinburgh Programming Languages Laboratory which I lead. </p>
