The School of Computing Science at the University of Glasgow is offering studentships to support PhD research for students starting in October 2026 or shortly thereafter. Funding is available to support tuition fees for both UK-domiciled and international students,
 and in most cases to support living expenses at the recommended UKRI rate with an annual stipend (~£21,383 for session 2026-27).<br>
 <br>
Although the above funding is open to students in all areas of Computing Science, applications in the area of programming languages are very welcome. The School's Programming Languages Theme gathers researchers interested in PL, broadly construed, and has representation
 from theory, systems, and education.<br>
A list of supervisors can be found on our web page: <a style="margin: 0px; text-align: left;" data-auth="NotApplicable" data-linkindex="0" rel="noopener noreferrer" title="https://www.gla.ac.uk/schools/computing/research/researchthemes/pl-theme/" class="OWAAutoLink elementToProof" id="OWAf81c8caf-87e7-eb44-e93c-9c982ccdd3fa" target="_blank" href="https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://www.gla.ac.uk/schools/computing/research/researchthemes/pl-theme/__;!!IBzWLUs!TWUEze-oTQh8pq42cFb9xR4sCCJGDzaczS737YByTAY0XXZPCWJ1bVY-wLluVcMcNLqBACvDvFUL9dkLsrzBbQG2H3R17RlwdMOeo3H_fFE$">https://www.gla.ac.uk/schools/computing/research/researchthemes/pl-theme/</a><br>

Applicants will typically have a BSc (2:1 or above) or MSc in Computing Science, and will have had some exposure to the field of programming languages through courses, internships, or undergraduate projects.<br>
