1. Objectives
The 2004 edition of the International Summer School of Aussois will
concern students, researchers and engineers from both theoretical and
applied computer science.
One of the aims of this school is also to encourage cross-border
co-operation and to nurture the scientific work of the Ph.D. students
who attend the courses.
2. Topics
The school will start with a common day on non-classical logic: we will
introduce modal logics and present the background of the logic of
knowledge with some of its applications.
The two main topics will be then studied in parallel.
The school in theoretical computer science will consist of two courses:
the first one on Model checking, the second one on the semantics of
lambda calculus.
The school in Semantic Web will address all the main inherent
problematics: representation languages, inference mechanisms, data
mining on the Web. The existing norms and their evolutions will be also
studied. Some industrial applications will illustrates the different
subjects.
3. Public concerned
Doctoral Students, but also Researchers and Engineers in Computer Science
4. Poster sessions
On a volunteer basis, each doctoral student is encouraged to send a
short description of her/his work which, after a review, will be
published on the school web site and presented during the school.
5. Scientific Committee
The scientific committee is composed by:
Dr. C. Baroglio (Dipartimento di Informatica - Università di Torino)
Prof. S. Ronchi della Rocca (Dipartimento di Informatica - Università di
Torino)
Prof. P. Torrasso (Dipartimento di Informatica - Università di Torino)
Prof. R. David (LAMA - Université de Savoie)
Prof. P. Lescanne (LIP - Ecole Normale Supérieure de Lyon)
Dr. L. Vignollet (SYSCOM - Université de Savoie)
6. Location and registration
The school will be held in AUSSOIS (mountain resort in the Alpes chain
at about 100 kms from Chambéry and Torino).
The registration fees are 270 euros for a PhD student, 310 euros for a
researcher from a public institution, and 220 euros per day for an
industrial.
For students and researchers, fees include complete accomodation. Grants
will be available for students.
We hope to be able to give grants covering the totality of the fees to a
large part of the appliants.
7. Organization and sponsors
This school is organized conjunctly by Université de Savoie and
Università degli studi di Torino.
The main sponsors are the "Conseil général de la Savoie", Università
degli studi di Torino, Université de Savoie and UFI.
