I did this.  It's pretty useful.

However, the code is a bit hairy -- a lot of hardcoded string
comparisons.  Perhaps it's inevitable because we're essentially
sorting arbitrary objects in arbitrary orders, but if there's a better
way, I'm happy to take suggestions.
