ISR 2028 - 16th International School on Rewriting - CALL FOR PROPOSALS

The International School on Rewriting (ISR) is aimed at master and PhD 
students, researchers, and practitioners interested in the study of 
rewriting concepts and their applications. Since 2006, the school is
offered at least every second year. In previous editions of ISR, 
often two tracks have been offered: a basic track with an introduction
to first-order term rewriting, and an advanced track covering more 
recent developments and applications. Some times also an additional 
track was offered, e.g., a basic track on type theory; similarly,
changes in the topic are possible, e.g., there have been basic tracks 
covering both term rewriting and lambda-calculus.

This is a call for proposals for hosting and organizing ISR 2028.

Proposals for ISR 2028 are to be sent to the ISR steering committee
by Friday, June 19, and to be presented at the upcoming meeting [1]
of the IFIP WG 1.6 on Rewriting (on July 18, within the first block
of workshops at FLOC 2026 [2].)
The decision about hosting and organizing ISR 2028
will be taken by a vote of the IFIP WG 1.6 members present.

A proposal for hosting and organizing ISR 2028 should address
the following points:

* What is the venue of the school, what are the facilities?
* Who is the intended organizing chair, who else is involved in the
 organization?
* What is the experience in running summer schools or similar events?

* What format is intended? Which tracks are planned? 
* What is the plan to attract and select speakers?
 (e.g., by invitation, by open call, or a mixture)

* What are possible dates for the school?
* What co-location with conferences is intended?
 (this may help with attracting speakers, and funding for speakers)

* What is the estimated registration fee?
* What is the estimated cost of hotels, food, local transportation?

If you consider presenting a proposal for organizing ISR 2028 or have
any questions, please contact the chair of the ISR steering committee.

The deadline for submitting the finished proposal is June 19, 2026.
