Postdoctoral Researcher in Software Tools and Formal Programming

Job Title:  Postdoctoral Researcher
Location: School of Computing, Dublin City University, Ireland

Job Description: This is a research position in the area of software tools
and formal programming. The person appointed will work on designing and
developing software tools to support mathematical approaches to
object-oriented programming where programs are constructed from
specifications with a view to ensuring high confidence in their correct
behaviour. The work is part of a  project  funded by Enterprise Ireland and
run jointly by Dublin City University (DCU) and the National University of
Ireland at Maynooth (NUIM). The role is part of a wider research effort to
develop mathematical approaches to constructing object–oriented programs,
and the person appointed will be expected to influence the development of
the theory particularly from a tools perspective.

Requirements: Applicants should hold a PhD in computing and have expertise
in some of the following areas: designing and implementing programming tools
and in particular verifiers, mathematical approaches to programming, formal
logic, formal methods, theory of object-oriented programming. Candidates
should have good software engineering skills, and the ability to communicate
well and work in a team.

Salary: ~ Euro 33,000 per annum.

Start Date: October 1st, 2004 or as soon as possible thereafter

Duration: This is a contract position for two years.
