[TYPES] Why are ACM conference registrations so expensive now?

Thanks, Neel and others, for raising the issue.  I think we all agree that
the registration costs are higher than we would have liked, but let me also
point out that we live in interesting times, and the past few years have
been a roller-coaster ride in terms of inflation, pandemic, etc.  A rising
tide lifts all conference registration rates (albeit to varying extents),
and I am sure that Philippa and the other members of the organizing team
did the best they could to keep costs down despite the attractive location
(it is a *really* nice location).

That said, the POPL SC, as well as the SIGPLAN EC, will surely have much to
discuss about how to deal with this issue going forward, and I expect we
will also seek your opinion about it in the post-POPL survey.  We also
welcome your feedback at the POPL'24 business meeting, which will take
place on Thursday, January 18, at 17:10-18:10, London time.
