The unison server seems to be very slow at checking for updates.
If it is running on a Windows machine, is the "fastcheck" option set
to true?  Also, this option fails to work under Windows after
day-light savings time changes if you synchronize file modification
times.  This was recently fixed.  A workaround is to remove the
archives (these are files "ar*" in the .unison directory; if you are
not sure which archives to remove, you can look at the first few lines
of their contents, which is human-readable).  You could try this.
