Mobile Software Research Engineer (Runtime System) 

DoCoMo USA Labs is seeking an experienced research engineer to design
and implement new programming language runtime for mobile systems. The
candidate should have a Ph.D. in computer science / engineering and 3
years industrial experience or an MS with 5 years of industrial
experience. 

The successful candidate will have in-depth knowledge of aspects of
state of the art software issues and a good appreciation of issues
specific to mobile and wireless environments. In particular, experience
in designing and implementing language runtimes for mobile or resource
constrained devices is required. The candidate should have demonstrated
leadership in programming languages through publications and/or
disseminations of their ideas through products. Outstanding programming
skills will be required.

The successful candidate will be expected to participate in a strong
team, making contributions to the overall aims of the project. This
position requires a self-starting individual with strong interpersonal,
analytical, and logical skills. Experience in the identification and
initiation of new research topics arising from new wireless technology
trends and problems is highly desirable. The ability to develop research
vision and plans, and propose innovate solutions to identified problems
would be an advantage.
